A question for Israeli Ladies: How can hair be unkosher?

There are some very religious Jewish people who interpret various religious edicts and texts to the literal word. In Judaism, just as in Islam, all idol worship (or anything that could be viewed as such) is forbidden. For example, we are not supposed to place our knees on the ground as this could somehow be related to idol worship (not sure of the exact reason...). This is just another case of literalist religious intepretation (i.e., hair being used in any form of idol worship is unkosher).
