How do I stop the white dust from coming out of the humidifier?

I haven a cool mist ultrasonic humidifier. This product is great for increasing the humidity in my home, but the minerals in my water cause a white dust to collect on surfaces throughout the house. I've heard that there are additives to put in the water to decrease this dust. Does anyone know about this? Does anyone know about other solutions?
