Could my constant breaking of high E strings be caused by my guitars?

I have a Squire Strat and a B.C. Rich Mockingbird (which is in need of repair). I know the squire isn't a good quiality guitar, but it's what I started off with and I read somewhere that B.C. Rich guitars are made with cheap equipment. I've broken 10+ E strings within my 3 years of playing guitar. Most of the time, they break when I try bending a note another step up.
